Players and Pleasures
The secret life of things, the intimacy of the mundane, the complexity of the banal: Bulgarian artists Rada Boukova und Sirma Sarafova-Orahovac are separated by almost 40 years of lifetime. The two have never met, yet their works share a certain family resemblance.
Past Perfect
Shot on original location, Liboska and Solarski created a series of photographic stagings, facsimiles of shared memories, tracing things that seem irretrievably lost: the intensity of youth, the quaint dreariness of the former eastern bloc and the fervent expectation of a better future.
Around the Truth is the Truth.
Romanian artist Alex Mirutziu explores the fringes of what can be seen or represented. His lightly rendered strokes, referred to as “homeless lines” by the artist, approach the portrayed objects without ever keenly contouring them.
BAYWATCH
Curated by Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher
With Dragos Alexandrescu, Silvia Amancei & Bogdan Armanu, Tamar Chaduneli, Levan Chelidze, EQUALS Collective (initiated and led by Andreja Kulunčić; the other members wish to remain anonymous), Daniil Galkin, Karol Radziszewski and Martina Vacheva.
In its first exhibition, KVOST presents works by young artists whose origins and cultural and linguistic influences are in Eastern Europe. The works on display are the result of the artists‘ observations, examinations and evaluations; they record tendencies, hardships and dangers. They can also be seen as instructions for future action.
