SOLOMIYA STUDIO @ KVOST

From 5.02. to 19.02.2025, KVOST will host the "Solomiya Studio" festival curated by Solomiya Magazine. KVOST will be a meeting place to discuss art and politics, see works of art and films, read books and magazines, drink tea and eat Borscht. KVOST will be open daily from 2 pm.

The theme of the festival focuses on various forms of violence. Starting with colonial violence, ecocide, the fragility of peace agreements, and the rise of far-right parties in Germany, the festival will highlight power dynamics and their abuse.

Solomiya Magazine was founded in April 2022 in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. From visual art to personal stories, the magazine showcases the work of emerging and established artists from Ukraine and beyond, reflecting an environment marked by unprecedented imperial aggression.

The magazine is designed by the design office Kollektiv Scrollan and published by SHIFT BOOKS. The Solomiya Studio festival is made possible by the “Impact Grant 2024” of the Supporting Act Foundation of WeTransfer and by the kind support of Fotopioniere L@N, Freiraum in der Box and Blumen Marsano.

MAGDALENA CIEMIERKIEWICZ . RAPESEED

Borderland: Where do national and cultural identities begin and end? At what point do official and private histories overlap? What is visible and what remains hidden from view?

The starting point for Magdalena Ciemierkiewicz's works on display at KVOST is her home village of Koniaczów, located in the south-eastern corner of Poland, a historically multi-ethnic and multi-religious populated area close to the Ukrainian border.
