Free spaces in the Art Academy
As part of the exhibition Die Auto-Perforations-Artisten (F.A.Q.), KVOST is presenting an artist talk with Else Gabriel and Rainer Görß. The Auto-Perforations-Artisten met during their studies at the Dresden University of Fine Arts, where their first performances occurred.
Together with Else Gabriel and Rainer Görß, Marija Petrovic will talk about the role of the art academy in artistic development and possible spaces for freedom and experimentation in artistic studies. But also about the extent to which the structures of art education make it necessary to be challenged and provoke resistance. Rainer Görß, who was heavily involved in university politics during his studies (1984-1989), will talk about his experience of artistic education in the G.D.R. With Else Gabriel, who has been teaching for many years and was appointed professor at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee in 2009, we will bridge the gap to the present day and discuss to what extent artistic education meets today’s requirements and prepares students for later practice.
The talk will be held in German. Registration required post@kvost.de
