Players and Pleasures
The secret life of things, the intimacy of the mundane, the complexity of the banal: Bulgarian artists Rada Boukova und Sirma Sarafova-Orahovac are separated by almost 40 years of lifetime. The two have never met, yet their works share a certain family resemblance.
Sarafova-Orahovac’s drawings are inspired by classical still life and cast a contemplative glance at the auspicious symbols of the west. In comparison, Boukovas installations are more political in that they clearly debunk consumer capitalism as an empty promise.
